We stayed at our friend Mike's house, a huge house on three acres of land. Mike has a huge "garden." Garden is in quotes because his garden is ten times the size of ours! We ate so much fresh produce right off the plants. Delicious.
I got to sleep in every day, which was wonderful. Matt and Des got up early and went exploring, took bike rides to black berry patches. I got to wake up at 10 am and eat fresh black berries!
The city of Burlington was really nice. It kind of reminded me of a really big Montclair. We walked around the different shops, ate a couple veg-friendly restaurants. There were free human circus shows in the park! They were pretty cool.
Sunday we were about to leave the city to go back to Mike's house when a golden retriever ran across the street. We pulled over and didn't see any people with the dog so Mike ran after the dog. A dad and his kids came up to our car and asked if it was our dog.
We said no, we didn't want her to get hit by a car. The dad tells us that they were playing with the dog by the lake but they didn't know whose dog it was. I didn't know what to say. So you saw this dog was by herself, you played with her but you didn't do anything to find out where her caretaker was or to make sure she didn't get hit by a car or something else horrible.
Thankfully Mike caught the dog, and called the police. The dog's caretaker had also called the police so both the caretaker and the police showed up within ten minutes!
